  • What are the main difference between SFMS and government schools?
    • SFMS is a leading private school registered with the Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore.
    • We offer English Language Foundation Programme, Lower Secondary, Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' Level, London Examinations IGCSE, Singapore Cambridge GCE 'A' Level, London Examinations GCE 'A' Level Programme, Australian Years 7, 8, 9 & 10, AUSMAT (Year 11 & 12), BTEC Higher National Diploma (Business) and St. Francis Baccalaureate Programme.
  • What percentage of our students goes on to further their education in polytechnics and universities?
    • About 40% of our students go on to further their education in various local polytechnics such as Singapore Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and established universities such as National University of Singapore. Nanyang Technological University and many overseas Universities in Australia, United kingdom, Canada and United States of America.
  • Where do SFMS students come from?
    • Each year, SFMS receives an enrolment of about 600-700 students. Of these, approximately 70% are overseas students and the remaining are locals or Permanent Residents. Students from China make up about 40% of the foreign student population while the rest are from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Korea, Myanmar and elsewhere. A recent trend has seen students from international schools transferring to SFMS.
  • Where do SFMS teachers come from?
    • UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, Myanmar, China, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore.
  • What are the school fees for an international or local student for the academic year 2008?
    • The school fees for all students are quoted on a per year basis and are subjected to revision.Iit is approximately about S$11,500 for locals and Permanent Residents; and about S$13,500 for foreign students. Click here for a detailed look of the latest update of the school fees listing.
  • How do fees at SFMS compare with those at international schools in Singapore?
    • International schools admit only foreign students. The fees tend to be expensive; they can be two or three times ours.
  • Does SFMS offer scholarships?
    • Yes, SFMS Bursary and Scholarship are made available to students who excel in their academic studies and were exemplary in conduct. Sports scholarships are also awarded to students with outstanding sporting achievements.
  • Is there an age limit for admission to SFMS ?
    • We will review all admission applications on a case by case basis.
  • What is the admission procedure?
    • Come visit us and experience first hand the vibrant culture in SFMS! We can make arrangement for a scholl tour and a programme consultation session with our Admission Officer who will be on hand to answer any enquires that you may have.
      Prior to admission to our school, we will invite the potential candidate to take an Entrance Test, which would assess the candidate's abilities in Mathematics and English. This would allow our School Registrar to better assess how we can better place our candidate that would suit their academic needs.
      Please note that you are required to call the school at 6760 0889 to arrange for an Entrance Test and subsequent interview with our School Registrar. The entire process would take approximately 3 hours to be completed. You can call us or do a walk in to arrange for an appointment school official hours from 9am-3pm.

      Mandatory documents required for Entrance Test include:
      + 4 Passport sized photographs
      + copy of birth certificate
      + copy of passport (student)
      + copy of passport (parents/guardian)
      + highest educational certificate
      + highest educational transcripts

      Other documents for full admission procedure include:
      + Marriage/Divorce certificate of parents
      + Financial proof in the form of bank statement, fixed deposit etc.

      Please Note that S$155 fee will be charged for the Entrance Test.
  • Why does SFMS need to charge more than government schools?
    • Government schools are heavily subsidised by the government (although the cost of educating a student in a government school, at about S$6000 annually, is broadly similar to our fees). Government schools are therefore able to charge lower fees. We nevertheless offer good value for money, by including courses government schools do not provide, English Academic Programme, London IGCSE, AUSMAT (Year 11 & 12), BTEC Higher National Diploma (Business) and St. Francis Baccalaureate and enrichment activities like Performing Arts, Physical Education and French and Japanese language enrichment.
  • What is the entrance test based on?
    • The Math entrance test is based on the common syllabus related to the course of study applied for. Level adjustments are made for those intending to come in for lower secondary (Sec 1 & 2) and upper secondary (Sec 3 upwards). The English entrance test will test your basic listening and comprehension skills. (Past papers are not available.)
  • How do foreign students enrol?
    • Contact our school (67600889) to make an appointment for the entrance test, or contact our local agent if you are still overseas. On arrival, you need to purchase an Application Package (S$20), read through and fill up the forms, and make the S$130 payment for the entrance test before sitting it. After this, you will be interviewed by our Academic Registrar. Your guardian or parent must be present at the interview.

      Basic Document needed for School Assessment:
      + The original and photocopies of the highest examination results obtained
      + 4 passport-sized photographs
      + The I.C. or passport of your parent or guardian
      + Your school leaving certificate
      + Your I.C. or Passport
  • Can you arrange accommodation for foreign students?
