FACILITIES
 

 

a. Book Shop
It is compulsory for all students to buy textbooks for all the subjects they have signed up for during registration. Students should purchase textbooks at the school bookshop located on Level 1. Opening hours are 9.30 a.m. to 4.00pm, Mondays to Fridays (except Thursday) during the school terms. Opening hours during the school holidays is subject to changes. Please call General Office or Customer Service to find out the hours during the holiday period.

     

 

 

 

b. School Canteen
The school canteen, located on Level 1, serves Chinese, Western, Malay and Peranakan food. School Canteen will be open from 7.30.a.m. to 3.00 p.m. daily. It serves breakfast, lunch and snacks for tea-break.

 

 

 

 

c. Lockers
The School recommends that every student rent a locker for the duration of his/her time in our school. Students will be able to keep their books and any other personal belongings that he/she needs on a regular basis for easy retrieval. The rental fee is S$40 per year (non-refundable) and student must clear their rented lockers before the school holidays at the end of each academic year (31st October of each year). New lockers can be rented at the start of the following academic year.

 

 

 d. Student Learning Centre (Library)
Our Student Learning Centre is located on Level 6 and will be opened from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Mondays to Fridays. Our collection includes a broad spectrum of books and CD-ROMs comprising of encyclopaedia, dictionaries, atlases and maps, arts, science journals, literature texts and many other books for reference. A priceless collection of National Geographic, Scientific American and Readers Digest from the year 1947 onwards are just some of the treasures you will find in our library. Our role is to help students and staff to explore the information contained in our collections and to enable that knowledge to be applied in the present and future.

 

        

 

e. I.T. Labs
St. Francis Methodist School is equipped with two high tech labs with the latest machines, equipment and softwares that are necessary for the students and teachers. This will thus create a very conducive and effective learning experience for both students as well as teachers alike. Students are strongly encouraged to use the I.T. Labs during their free time to learn and research on the latest topics available in the fascinating world of internet. Our I.T. Labs are open from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. We have been a certified Exam centre for TOEFL Online Based Testing for the past seven years.

            

 

f. Multipurpose Hall
The Multipurpose Hall, which can house up to 800 students, serves a variety of functions in the school. Its main usage is for the daily morning assembly and for PE lessons for all our students. Besides that, it is also used for the annual Orientation for new students and formal functions such as Graduation Service and staging of school plays. It also serves as an assembly area for our international summer and winter camp students. Several Co-Curricula Activities (CCAs) such as badminton and table tennis are also conducted in the hall. The hall is open to the public for hire to hold retreats and company functions.

 

 

g. Gym
Our School is well equipped with a gymnasium which includes the latest exercise and training equipment. Students can enjoy the privilege of using the gym with the permission of the Physical Education teacher.

 

h. Classrooms
The school has 29 fully air conditioned classrooms equipped with projectors to facilitate an effective teaching environment as well as allowing a more innovative learning experience for our students. In 2006, SFMS made the transition to the home room system which created and increased sense of ownership over the classrooms for the teachers and encourages greater interaction among our students.

 

 

 

i. Science Laboratories
For adequate practical Science sessions and to understand the scientific concepts, the school boasts modern Chemistry, Physics and Biology laboratories which can each accommodate 30 students comfortably. To integrate Information Technology into the process of teaching and learning Science, an additional Science-IT Lab is available which will facilitate students to learn more innovative subjects like Aviation Studies etc., We take great pride in the design and layout of our laboratories as they have been designed in detailed consultation with our Science Department teachers.
