Officially appointed as the Principal and Chief Executive Officer of St. Francis Methodist School on 1 August 2008, Mrs Lenie Cho comes with a wealth of experience in the educational arena, both as an educator and an administrator.
With her longstanding relationship with the Methodist Schools, having been a student at Fairfield and Methodist Girls’ Schools before moving on to complete her pre-university education at Anglo-Chinese School at the Barker Road campus, Mrs Lenie Cho is more than familiar with the Methodist tradition.
She received her BA (Honours) in History and Geography at Singapore University (now the National University of Singapore), and then went on to acquire her teaching qualifications from the then Teachers’ Training College.
After having taught for more than a decade in an integrated school, Mrs Lenie Cho obtained her Master in Science (Curriculum and Instruction) from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1984. Upon her return, she served for seven years as a Specialist Inspector for Geography and Social Studies in the Ministry of Education, Singapore, before moving on to join Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) as one of the Deputy Principals.
Despite having switched tracks into her management role, Mrs Lenie Cho continued to serve as a member of the Geography Consultative Committee at the National University of Singapore (1992 – 2002) and the Chairman of the Geography Teachers’ Association of Singapore (1992-2003).
For her contributions in the education field, Mrs Lenie Cho was awarded the Long Service Medal in 1997, the National Day Commendation Medal in 1998, and the Long Service Award (30 years) by the Ministry of Education in 2001.
Apart from her challenging roles in her career, Mrs Lenie Cho is an active member of Living Waters Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Local Conference Executive Committee (LCEC) since 2003.
Affable and yet gently firm, business-like and yet humane in her dealings with everyone, Mrs Cho is known for her ability in encouraging people into achieving tasks they never thought possible, at levels undreamt of.
Indeed, just as the SFMS Executive Board of Directors strongly believes, this is one leader who is capable of moving the school to greater heights.
To God Be The Glory.
