Philip is an award
winning innovative
Music Director,
Composer, Sound
Sculptor, Pianist,
Percussionist and
Arranger. He received
the LaSalle-SIA
scholarship in 1997
and graduated as
the Most Outstanding
Student with High
Distinction. He
was also the recipient
of the SIA Award
of Excellence in
the Arts. With a
grant from the National
Arts Council, he
did his Master in
Music at Kingston
University, United
Kingdom specializing
in both Electronic
and World Music
composition.
He
is very active in
the local and international
music scene, he
has composed numerous
works for dance,
drama, films, musical,
multimedia, art
installation, percussion
ensemble, gamelan
orchestra, choral,
bands, symphony
and many other ensembles.
His versatile improvisational
skill has been greatly
sought after by
local and overseas'
dance and drama
groups. His works
have been performed
and presented with
great credits in
many parts of USA,
Europe and Asia.
Philip's works written
for the LaSalle-SIA
Gamelan Ensemble
have been performed
in International
Gamelan festivals
in New Zealand and
Yogjakarta.
His
contribution as
a music director
for many productions,
workshops and music
schools have indeed
been creatively
inspirational to
the team involved.
As a Music Director
and Composer, his
passionate sense
of discovery has
won respect and
admiration from
various multidisciplinary
productions that
he has involved.
In 2003 and 2005,
Philip received
the Life! Theatre's
Best Sound Award
for his contribution
to theatre music
composition. He
is currently the
Composer-in-residence
of the Singapore
Wind Symphony Percussion
Ensemble.
