Programme Overview

St. Francis Methodist School is a private academic institution offering an extensive range of educational courses, which include a variety of academic subjects as well as Performing Arts and Physical Education to prepare young students for this challenging millennium. The Lower Secondary Programme prepares students for Upper Secondary in the Singapore-Cambridge or the London IGCSE pathway.

Programme Outline
The two-year Lower Secondary foundation course offers students a wide range of subjects before they specialise at Upper Secondary. After the Secondary Two examinations, students can choose to continue their Upper Secondary education either in the Singapore- Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level or the London IGCSE course.

Pedagogy

The content of all examinable subjects in Lower Secondary School (LSS) are taught based on the 4 years ‘O’ level Express stream syllabus as outlined by the Ministry Of Education (MOE). In line with LSS’ motto, Building Strong Foundations, the two year Sec 1 and 2 courses seeks to establish in the students a solid foundation of the various subjects.

In addition, we believe in building positive relationships with our students and inculcating the latest in pedagogy, such as Arthur L Costa and Bena Kallick’s Habits Of Mind and Dr Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, into our teaching and students’ learning.

Finally, having fun and going for field trips are all part of our out-of-the classroom learning experience to enable our students to see the relevance of their studies in relation to the real world.
