• In order to raise the achievement level of English language learners, the new ELF 1, 2 and 3 (English Language Foundation) have been designed to be compatible with Academic Instruction in English and Academic Language learning approach.

• These approaches to teaching grade-level subject matter in English to English language learners use strategies tailor-made to help speakers of other languages access content.

• The goal of incorporating these strategies is to assist students of low fluency or higher in benefiting from instruction in complex academic content delivered through readings and accompanying instruction in specific, proven classroom strategies.
