Humanities Fieldtrip - Singapore History Museum and Singapore River Boat Ride (22nd February 2006)

Singapore History Museum

On the 22nd February 2006 at about 2.20pm, we set off on a trip to learn more about Singapore’s History as well as to take a historic boat ride down Singapore River.

It was a fun and exciting trip as each of the two classes were involved in two separate activities namely a guided tour for the Secondary 2A and a Hands-on Activity for the more excitable 2B.

Singapore River Boat Ride

This was the most exciting part of our trip as we had the experience of taking  bumboats that were used in the late 19th and early 20th century by the coolies (labourers) to transport and to carry bales of cargoes.

Our 30 minute ride down Singapore River came to an end. We were tired as it was a long day. But we learnt so much. We hope to be able to carry out more of such lessons outside the classroom. We left the Museum at 4.30pm and arrived back at school at 5pm.
