The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (GCE ‘A’ Level) has been from time immemorial, the culmination of Secondary education and a gateway to tertiary education. It is internationally recognized and serves as an entry requirement for Degree and Professional courses worldwide. Students enrolled in this programme have a distinct advantage as they will acquire a strong academic foundation that enables them to fit into the first year of a Degree programme.

This two-year programme is designed to equip ‘A’ Level students with a comprehensive set of skills that will enhance their future studies and target students for middle management career positions.

The ‘A’ Level Programme focuses on:
1. Ensuring the acquisition of knowledge on the chosen subjects, with constant emphasis on information that is relevant to the student’s career development, providing a strong foundation on which to pursue their tertiary education.
2. Enhancing written and spoken English Language as an international language for communication.
3. Developing critical thinking skills and the ability to be original in the analysis of world events.

Structure
Each subject is well-structured to provide the strong foundation necessary for students to pursue a tertiary education. Teachers are able to cover the syllabus comprehensively allowing students to effectively prepare for the examinations by developing individual study techniques or improving language skills.

Small class size
Our classes are small with a teacher to student ratio of up to 1:20. This allows for optimum student-teacher interaction and more personalised attention for the students.

Scholastic Aptitude Test

You can study for the S.A.T at St. Francis with expert instruction at additional cost. Programmes are conducted by professionals, with strong interest in education and rich in teaching experience. You can also sit for the S.A.T Examinations as St. Francis is also a registered examination centre.

Credibility
The University of Cambridge is highly regarded and accepted amongst local and overseas Examining Boards and is currently regulated by the Oxford Cambridge Royal Society of Arts (OCRSA). Students can be linked with institutions of higher learning both locally and overseas.

Curriculum from Year 2006 onwards

The curriculum comprises 3 components:

Life Skills
The Holistic curriculum of the school, including non academic activities, that helps develop the values and skills needed in life to be responsible and active adults.

Knowledge Skills
The part of the curriculum that focuses on developing thinking, process and communication skills. These skills are developed via the General Paper and through the content-based subjects described below.

Content-based Subjects
The part of the curriculum that gives grounding in content disciplines in three different areas: Languages, Humanities & the Arts, and Mathematics & Sciences. A Humanities & Arts student will take at least one contrasting subject from the Mathematics and Sciences disciplines, and vice versa.

Curriculum Structure
Two Levels of Study

You can select subjects from 2 levels of study:

H1
H2
Half of H2 in breadth but similar to H2 in depth. Equivalent to current 'A' level subjects.

You get more choice with the H1 & H2 of study. If replaces the previous system of 'AO', 'A' and 'S' papers. The H1 level offers more subject options than the previous 'AO' papers.
