Discipline and Reward

SFMS believes that discipline is necessary to achieve one’s goals and personal successes. Discipline is not limiting. Instead, it empowers the students to focus on their goals and persevere until they accomplish these goals.

SFMS seeks to achieve a balance between the positive, rewarding and rehabilitative, and proactive approach, and the negative, punitive and reactive approach. Rewards go a long way towards inspiring good behaviour, if paired with consistent consequences for undesirable behaviour.

To create a more positive school culture, we have adopted the Restorative Practices (RP) approach which uses various communicative techniques focused on affective statements and proactive community building activities, to seek to restore and build relationships.
