Kickstarting Earth Day 2023 @ SFMS

Last week, the Green Club, Humanities, and English Departments from both the Primary and High Schools collaborated to promote Earth Day 2023 at SFMS. To kickstart the programme on 17th April, Ongole Natasha (8S2) and Yapardhana Lionel Tristan (10P1) from the Green Club presented the effects of pollution and human activities on the planet. The theme for Earth Day this year was “Invest in Our Planet”. The presentation also included several sustainable initiatives to raise awareness in the school, like introducing a recycling campaign where each class would have a box to collect recyclables. Students and teachers also were reminded to switch off lights and air-conditioning when not in use. The Green Club members ended their presentation with an insightful video detailing the effects of pollution on marine life.
