St Francis Methodist School opened its doors to primary students in March 2019 with eight students and three teachers. Since then, we have experienced God’s grace in the growth of the Primary cohort. When we started school in our new academic year in January 2020, we had more than 100 students spread across eight classes from Years 1 to 6. Hailing from various countries, these students have added greater vibrancy to the daily courtyard scene.

Through hands-on activities and the use of curated resources, the students enjoy a balanced education here at SFMS. Our young learners have dedicated lessons on socio-emotional skills like self-management and teamwork. They are also exposed to problem-solving and logical-thinking skills in Makerspace lessons. Every week, God’s word is shared by our Christian Ministry staff and teachers during morning devotions and chapel sessions. We believe that these school experiences, under the care of our dedicated and competent staff, contribute to the students’ socio-emotional well-being and growth, and academic learning. The SFMS Primary programme marries the rigour of local pedagogies with the requirements of the international education experience of the Cambridge Primary programme. 2020 will see our first graduating batch of primary students, who will then progress to our school’s secondary programme.

Working with the pupils gives me hope for the future, especially so when I read Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
