NEWS &
EVENTS

We held our annual Thanksgiving Service on Friday, 17 July 2020. The Thanksgiving Service is one of the most important events in St Francis Methodist School, where students and staff gather to recognise and celebrate our school’s achievements and people. It is also a time to give thanks to our Lord for His blessings and guidance.

This year’s celebration, however, was a whole new experience for our school. In view of the COVID-19 safe management measures, our first virtual Thanksgiving Service 2020 took place in individual classrooms instead – which both students and staff found to be just as enjoyable and memorable.

Adding to the significance of this joyous occasion is the commemoration of our school’s 60th anniversary! This year, St Francis Methodist School turns 60 – another milestone to celebrate as we look back at our school’s 60 purpose-driven years.

Interesting programme line-up for that day included:
  • Celebratory Performances
  • Mini Award Ceremony
  • Limited edition 60th Anniversary Gift
  • Sweet Treats

Celebratory Performances

Our principal, Mr Charles Tong, shared about the school’s 2019 achievements, such as the renewal of our 4-year EduTrust Certification, exponential growth of our Primary Programme, SFMS’ authorisation to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in 2020, and more.

Our Year 3 students’ adorable performance of “This Little Light of Mine” will warm your heart.
Our music video, “To God Be The Glory” — featuring our school hymn and SFMS talents – premiered on this day.

Mini Award Ceremony

The awards were presented to the recipients in their respective classrooms. Congratulations to the awardees of the following awards:
  • 2019 Academic Excellence Awards
  • 2019 Academic Commendation Award
  • 2019 Character Excellence Awards
  • St Francis Methodist School Scholarship
Long-serving staff were also presented with the Long Service Award. Thank you for your labour of love, teachers!

Commemorative 60th Anniversary Gift

This limited edition EZ-Link card was designed by one of our marketing staff, Ms Wong Jin Shien. All students and staff were gifted a card each.

Sweet Treats

We ended the wonderful celebration on a sweet note with an all-time favourite dessert — ice cream!
