“I came from Shijiazhuang city in the Hebei
province. I was fifteen when I enrolled in the AUSMAT programme at SFMS in
2017; I graduated in 2019.
I was very active when I was at SFMS. I
enrolled in every extracurricular competition I could find, and even achieved a
first for the school by obtaining a “High Distinction” in the Australian
Mathematics Competition in 2019. I was also actively engaged in class and
social activities. As a member and later as president of the Dance Interest
Group, I performed at many school events; I went camping and did debating. When
I was appointed as a student councillor, I saw the position as an opportunity
to give back to the community.
I shall always be indebted to the school and
the Principal. At the end of 2018, I was experiencing an upheaval in my family.
The Principal heard me crying and he stopped to ask why. I shared with him my
situation and told him that I was experiencing a financial problem. He
immediately helped me apply for a bursary. With that, I was able to complete my
studies at SFMS. He encouraged me to work hard to achieve good results. I was
glad when I received my Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)
results. I wanted him to be proud of me.
I have applied to NUS, NTU and University
College London and I am now pursuing Business and Computing, double degree at
NTU. If I had not come to SFMS, my choices for a university would have been
much limited. I made many friends at SFMS; every teacher who taught me here has
influenced me greatly. Thank you, SFMS.”
